S.A.F.E. Southeast Alaska Family Evaluations

The S.A.F.E. Child Advocacy Center is a child focused, protected place
where child victims, non-offending adults and family members, and
multidisciplinary
professionals meet to conduct interviews, examinations, discussions,
and
make decisions about investigation, treatment and prosecution of child
abuse cases. Must be referred by child protection agency or law
enforcement!

CCS’ Family Resource Center provides an
array of services including,
outpatient counseling, client and family support through wrap-around
services, ‘A Healthy Future’ – AHF is a therapeutic foster home program
providing services for special needs children who have not been
successful in other programs or in regular foster care, FASD Waiver
Services and Family Support Services. By calling the Family
Resource
Center at 463-6180 you can access these services. We work with children
from two to eighteen and do accept Medicaid as well as most insurance
plans.

All the below resources are provided to anyone in the community
by calling the Family Resource Center.
Anger
Management - Our mission is to equip participants with the
tools
that are necessary to effectively manage anger and stress, develop and
utilize effective communication skills, and to enhance emotional
intelligence.
Parenting
Classes - Nurturing parenting promotes self-reliance in
families by providing essential knowledge and resources tailored to the
need of children and adults, stressing nurturing and healthy
functioning in the family- where they learn the values and beliefs
that shape their lives.
Resource
Library - Many books, handouts and videos regarding all facets
of parenting, life skills, and family dynamics. Some may be
checked out, some are take as needed, others are reference only.
Our Time
- "Our Time” groups give families that much needed place to recharge
their parenting batteries, learn new skills, talk about their
challenges, and share their successes.

Baby-Parent Time
A weekly support group offered for new
parents and their babies. Group topics include: safety, colic,
songs and games for baby, bonding, nighttime parenting, infant brain
development, illness, infant CPR and other topics as identified by the
participants. Baby Parent Time gives parents the opportunity to
bring their concerns
to a professional nurse while sharing information and ideas with other
new parents.
Schedule:
Thursday,
from
noon
to
1:30
PM.
Group is on-going and all
parents are welcome to attend with their babies. Registration is
not
required.
Toddler Play Group
A weekly support group for parents that also provides playtime for
toddlers one to three years of age. Group topics for discussion
may include: nutrition, CPR, toilet training, discipline, finding
time for yourself and other parenting
concerns.
Schedule:
Mondays,

AM
to
1:00
PM. Classes are
on-going and held at
REACH, 213 3rd Street, Juneau. Parents are encouraged to bring
their
toddlers and their questions. Be prepared for fun!
Registration not
required.
Dads and Babies Play Group
This fathers' group gives Dad time with their
infants and/or toddlers
in a safe, fun atmosphere. Topics of interest to farthers are
presented: discipline, infant brain development, saving for college and
many more, as requested by group participants.
Schedule: The
first Saturday of each month, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Classes are held at REACH, 213 3rd Street, Juneau.
Dads are encouraged
to bring their babies or toddlers and be ready for a good time!

Community mental health center for SEARHC
beneficiaries that provides comprehensive psychiatric, mental health
and addictions outpatient treatment services including individual and
family therapy, children's services, psychiatric assessments and
medication management, individual treatment for psychological trauma,
substance abuse counseling and prevention services, and behavioral
health counseling. Juneau Behavioral Health provides culturally
based group therapy.
Neurodevelopmental assessment and treatment for individuals with fetal
alcohol conditions is available by referral to SEARHC Behavioral Health
in Sitka.
